Elderly woman arrested after sister’s head and body parts found in Tupperware containers

A 63-year-old woman has been arrested in Bellville South, Western Cape, following the shocking discovery of her 79-year-old sister’s mutilated body inside a home.

Police reportedly made the gruesome find after responding to a complaint, where they discovered the victim’s decapitated body, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.

According to reports, parts of the victim’s body — including the head — were allegedly stored in containers, which has intensified the horror surrounding the case and drawn widespread public attention.

The accused, identified as Aletta Rose, has since appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court, facing a charge of murder. The case was postponed to allow for legal aid, and she remains in custody.

It also emerged during proceedings that the suspect has a previous conviction for the murder of another family member in 1996, raising further concern about the case.

Community members expressed shock and disbelief, particularly given the ages of both women and the fact that they were sisters.

Investigations are ongoing.
