Ndlozi Appears to Throw Shade at Malema, Issues Strong Warning
Johannesburg – Former EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has sparked political debate after issuing a strong warning that many believe was indirectly aimed at his former party leader Julius Malema.
The remarks come amid growing tensions surrounding KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who has recently been at the centre of controversy involving allegations of political interference and internal battles within the police.
Ndlozi took to social media to defend Mkhwanazi, warning that attacks against him could have serious consequences for the country. He stressed that society must protect whistleblowers, cautioning that failure to do so could lead South Africa toward becoming a “mafia state.”
In a strongly worded statement, Ndlozi said those undermining Mkhwanazi were working against the public interest, adding that the commissioner’s efforts are aimed at exposing criminal networks linked to powerful figures.
While Ndlozi did not mention Malema directly, his comments came shortly after the EFF leader publicly criticised Mkhwanazi, dismissing him and insisting that he is “not scared of policemen.”
Malema had also accused the commissioner of dragging the EFF into internal police disputes, suggesting that Mkhwanazi should focus on his duties rather than political battles.
Political observers say Ndlozi’s remarks signal a deepening divide between the two figures, who were once close allies within the Economic Freedom Fighters. His warning that the country could become “ungovernable” if such battles are not resolved has added urgency to the ongoing debate.
The clash highlights broader concerns about tensions between political leaders and law enforcement, particularly as investigations and commissions continue to probe alleged corruption and interference within state institutions.
Authorities have not issued any formal response to the exchange, but the situation is expected to intensify as more details emerge.
