Limpopo – A man has been left seriously injured following a collision with a cow on a road in Limpopo, in yet another incident highlighting the dangers of animals straying onto South Africa’s rural roads.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the motorist’s vehicle struck a cow that had wandered onto the roadway. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle and left the driver with serious injuries.

Emergency services responded to the scene and provided medical assistance before transporting the injured man to a nearby hospital for further treatment. His condition has been described as serious, though further details about his identity or recovery have not yet been released.

Incidents involving livestock on roads are not uncommon in parts of Limpopo and other rural provinces. Poor visibility at night and a lack of fencing in some areas often contribute to such accidents. Road safety authorities have repeatedly warned motorists to remain vigilant, especially when driving in low-light conditions where animals may be difficult to spot.

Similar crashes have previously resulted in serious injuries, with emergency responders noting that collisions with large animals like cattle can have devastating consequences for drivers. (Arrive Alive)

Authorities are urging both motorists and livestock owners to take greater precautions to prevent such incidents, including improved fencing and more cautious driving, particularly on rural and unlit roads.
