NSC Exam Scandal: Umalusi Expresses Concern, Supports Police Investigation
Cape Town, 11 December 2025 – Umalusi has expressed concern over the recent leaks of National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam papers, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident.
Spokesperson Biki Lepota said the council is satisfied with the measures taken by the Department of Basic Education (DBE), which include setting up a task team to investigate the matter and reporting the case to the police.
“Umalusi notes the leaks with concern and fully supports the ongoing police investigation to ensure accountability,” Lepota added.
The DBE has indicated that it will continue to work closely with law enforcement and other stakeholders to prevent similar incidents in the future and safeguard the integrity of the matric examination system.
