Malema Claims Fikile Mbalula Is “Running Away” With ANC Presidency Race

EFF leader Julius Malema has stirred political debate after declaring that Fikile Mbalula is rapidly becoming a dominant force in the African National Congress (ANC) leadership race.

Speaking during a public address, Malema warned that the ANC might soon find itself led by Mbalula if the party continues on its current trajectory.

“If they allow him to do what he’s doing, he’s going to lead them,” Malema said.

He likened the ANC’s internal contest to a marathon, arguing that Mbalula is far ahead, while current ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile is struggling to keep pace.

Malema’s comments come at a time when speculation is growing about an intensified battle for the ANC presidency ahead of the party’s next elective conference.

Political analysts note that public statements from opposition leaders often hint at deeper shifts within the ruling party, and Malema’s remarks may reflect tensions and uncertainty brewing inside the ANC as leaders position themselves for the top job.

For now, the ANC has not officially responded to Malema’s claims, but the comments have added fresh fuel to ongoing discussions about the party’s future direction and leadership.
