RAMAPHOSA TO ADDRESS THE NATION OVER NEW MIGRATION CRISIS PLAN
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address South Africans soon on the government’s newly approved plan to deal with the country’s ongoing migration challenges.
According to government updates, the national address will outline a comprehensive migration strategy developed in response to rising tensions linked to undocumented immigration, border management concerns, and recent public protests across parts of the country.
The announcement follows a Cabinet decision to adopt a coordinated approach to migration, which includes tighter enforcement of immigration laws, improved border security, and increased workplace inspections targeting illegal employment practices.
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni confirmed that the President will speak to the nation once final preparations are complete, although no exact date has been provided.
Government officials have also warned against any attempts to force a “shutdown” of the country, saying such actions will not be tolerated and that citizens have the right to protest only within the bounds of the law.
