Taxi Owner Gunned Down in Front of His Children in Boksburg

Police are investigating a murder case following the fatal shooting of a man believed to be a taxi owner on Rondebult Road, opposite the Parkdene Boulevard Shopping Centre in Boksburg, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, the 35-year-old man was travelling with his two sons, aged 6 and 7. The trio had just bought lunch from McDonald’s and were leaving the shopping complex when the incident occurred.

It is alleged that the man stopped his silver Toyota RunX on the side of the road after one of the children asked for tomato sauce. While they were searching for the sauce inside the vehicle, an unregistered Toyota Corolla pulled up next to them.

A passenger exited the Corolla, approached the parked vehicle, and opened fire, shooting the man multiple times before fleeing the scene. The suspects then drove off.

Police recovered several spent cartridges at the scene. The two young boys were not physically injured but witnessed the brutal killing of their father.

At this stage, the motive for the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. Boksburg SAPS are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in identifying or locating the suspects to come forward.

Members of the public can contact the police on 08600 10111 or provide information anonymously.

Investigations are ongoing.
