Reaction Officer Injured During Arrest of Suspect in Durban
A Reaction Officer from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was injured during the arrest of a suspect in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Reaction Officer Wilson Goba is scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday at a private hospital in Durban to repair a fractured right hand sustained during the incident on Wednesday.
According to information, Officer Goba was providing backup to fellow RUSA members who were pursuing a suspect fleeing a crime scene. Upon apprehension, the suspect allegedly attacked the officers. The suspect was eventually overpowered and restrained with handcuffs.
During the altercation, Officer Goba and other reaction officers sustained head and facial injuries, with Goba also suffering a fractured right hand. The suspect also sustained injuries during the arrest.
