Two suspects were killed during a shootout with KwaZulu-Natal police in Ulundi.
According to police, a woman accompanied by two alleged hitmen was reportedly on her way to rob and kidnap her boyfriend in the area. The group is said to have travelled from Dannhauser last night in a vehicle belonging to the intended target.
They were intercepted by the Tactical Response Team (TRT). A shootout ensued as the suspects allegedly attempted to evade arrest. The woman and one of her accomplices were killed, while the second hitman sustained serious injuries and was taken for medical treatment under police guard.
Police recovered three firearms at the scene, including an AK-47.
Authorities confirmed that the woman’s boyfriend is an Ethiopian businessman based in Ulundi. Investigations are continuing, and further details will be released as they become available.
