Suspects in a car theft case were arrested, signal devices and vehicle break-in equipment were recovered.
At approximately 17h00 yesterday, Fox Security received information from Vumacam about a duplicate vehicle operating in the Verwoerdpark area, Alberton. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a vehicle break-in that occurred earlier in the day.
Tactical Units responded immediately and began searching the area. The vehicle was located and followed onto 2nd Avenue, where the suspects realized they were the victims of a high-speed chase.
The pursuit continued from Verwoerdpark onto the N3 through Cleveland and Bedfordview. With the valuable assistance of JMPD TRU members, the vehicle was successfully stopped in Essexwold, near Edenvale.
Two suspects were arrested and burglary equipment and vehicle break-in equipment were recovered. Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle had fake license plates and was linked to other criminal cases across Gauteng.
