Mpumalanga: Husband Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Police Officer Wife, Remains in Custody
Nkomazi, Mpumalanga – A 48-year-old man, Sipho Ngomane, has been charged with the brutal murder of his wife, Sergeant Joyce Vuyisile Ngomane (43), a dedicated police officer whose life was tragically cut short during a domestic dispute.
Ngomane appeared briefly in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga, where the matter was postponed on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, to allow for further investigation. He will remain in custody until his next appearance.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded during a heated argument at the couple’s home, where Sipho allegedly stabbed Joyce multiple times. Neighbours alerted authorities after hearing screams, but the officer was declared dead at the scene.
Sergeant Ngomane served her community with distinction and was described by colleagues as a committed, hardworking officer who was always ready to assist those in need. Her death has sent shockwaves through the local police fraternity and the Nkomazi community.
The SAPS has condemned the incident, calling it a tragic reminder of the ongoing scourge of domestic violence affecting families across the country — including those within law enforcement.
The case continues as investigators gather more details, while loved ones prepare to lay Sergeant Ngomane to rest.
