South Africa – Mike Sandlana, the leader of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, will plead not guilty to charges of bribing a judge in a protracted church succession dispute.
Sandlana, along with the judge, her son, and the church’s spokesperson, faces a total of 19 charges related to corruption and money laundering. Authorities allege that the church leader attempted to influence judicial proceedings in his favour during the dispute over leadership succession within the church.
The case has attracted national attention, highlighting ongoing concerns about corruption and undue influence within both religious institutions and the legal system. Sandlana’s legal team has indicated that they will contest all allegations in court.
The matter is set to proceed in court, where the prosecution will present evidence of the alleged bribery and financial misconduct, while the defence will argue against the charges.
