Woman (26) Arrested in Connection with Thembisa Principal and Admin Assistant Murders

Tembisa, Gauteng – A 26-year-old woman has been arrested in relation to the fatal shooting of the principal and an administrative assistant at Inxiweni Primary School in Thembisa.

What Happened
The tragic incident occurred on 18 November 2025, at approximately 5 pm, inside the administration block of Inxiweni Primary School.

The victims were Nozibele Tabu, the 58-year-old principal, and Nobantu Njomboni, a 55-year-old administrative assistant.

Colleagues working nearby reported hearing gunshots, hid for safety, and upon re-emerging, discovered the two women lying in a passage inside the admin block.

Emergency services responded swiftly, but both women were declared dead at the scene.

The Arrest
The suspect, who is also an employee at the school, was taken into custody on 19 November 2025.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed the arrest.

She is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on 21 November 2025, facing a murder charge.

The motive behind the shooting is not yet clear, and the investigation is ongoing.

Reaction and Aftermath
The Gauteng Department of Education expressed deep shock at the “senseless and brutal” killings, calling the school a place that should be safe.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Education MEC Matome Chiloane visited the school to meet with the bereaved families and assess the scene.

Psychosocial support teams have been deployed to the school to help learners and staff deal with trauma, and employee wellness services will remain on site.
