On social media, photos of romance between a female inmate and a male warden officer have been circulating. According to some documents, the alleged incident took place outside the Westville prison in Durban.
The DCS quickly corrected the record regarding social media posts suggesting inappropriate behavior between a civil servant and an inmate.
In a statement, the DCS can confirm that the videos and photos were taken from the popular television show, Uzalo.
The department added: “We urge the public and the media to verify the facts before spreading harmful lies.” “Incorrect information not only damages reputation but also undermines public confidence in important institutions.”
On social media, South Africans reacted to the DCS statement urging the department to ban the official uniform for TV and entertainment.
