“I Am Still Here and I Will Not Resign” – Ramaphosa Reaffirms His Position

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has once again made it clear that he will not resign following the Constitutional Court’s ruling regarding the Section 89 process linked to the Phala Phala matter.

Ramaphosa said there is nothing in the court’s judgment that requires him to step down, adding that resigning would undermine the constitutional process established to deal with such matters.

“I want to make it clear that I am staying. I will not resign. Doing so would mean interfering with the process set out by the Constitution and abandoning the responsibility entrusted to me by the people of South Africa.”

The President said he respects the Constitutional Court’s decision and intends to use the appropriate legal channels to challenge the findings of the Independent Panel, arguing that its report contains significant flaws.

Ramaphosa also stressed that he has never been found guilty of any crime and that the court did not conclude that he had engaged in any form of misconduct.

He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his work of rebuilding state institutions, fighting corruption, strengthening the economy, and fulfilling the mandate given to him by the people of South Africa until the end of his term in office.
