Constable TlhonoLofatso Fredens Machete to be Laid to Rest on Saturday

Constable Tlhonolofatso Fredens Machete — also referred to as Hlonolofatso Machete or Tlhonologatso Machete in various reports — was a member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) who tragically lost her life in a domestic violence incident at Rivati Police Station, Limpopo, in December 2025.

According to reports, the incident unfolded as follows:

Sergeant Matimba Gift Ngoveni (40), who was in a personal relationship with Constable Machete, went to her rented home on 7 December 2025, where an argument broke out.

Constable Machete called for help, and fellow officers from Rivati Police Station escorted her to the station for her safety.

A few hours later, Sergeant Ngoveni allegedly tracked her to the police station, shot and killed her, before reportedly taking his own life.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating the matter.

Colleagues, community members, and her family are mourning the loss of a dedicated police officer who lost her life to domestic violence.
