Tsakane, Ekurhuleni – Authorities are asking the public for assistance in locating two men accused of robbing a stokvel group of R108 000 on Monday.
The daring robbery occurred just before the women were scheduled to withdraw their savings for their monthly grocery shopping. The suspects reportedly ambushed the group and fled with the cash, leaving the victims devastated.
Images of the two men have been released by community crime fighters and are circulating widely on social media in an effort to identify the suspects.
Police are urging anyone who recognises the individuals or knows their whereabouts to contact Tsakane SAPS immediately or call Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Authorities assure that all information will be treated confidentially.
This incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by informal savings groups, and police continue to appeal to communities to remain vigilant when handling large sums of cash.
