Police Arrest School Principal’s Wife and Hitmen in Connection with His Murder

Flagstaff police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of a 59-year-old school principal, including the principal’s own wife and an alleged hired killer.

The 35-year-old suspected hitman was arrested in Luqoqweni, Lusikisiki, where police recovered an unlicensed 9 mm pistol with its serial number removed and 14 live rounds. Following this, a 40-year-old alleged middleman and the 52-year-old wife of the deceased were also detained at their Flagstaff residence.

The principal was tragically shot at his home in Siphaqeni on 19 November 2025. The suspects are due to appear in Flagstaff Magistrate’s Court facing charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Police praised the swift operation, which involved multiple coordinated teams across different localities. Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any additional information that could aid the investigation.

This shocking case underscores concerns about targeted attacks on educators and community leaders, raising questions about safety measures in rural communities.
